Epicocillin is an antibacterial drug that contains the active ingredient ampicillin. It is used to treat respiratory tract infections, such as pneumonia and bronchitis, to treat urinary tract infections, caused by Escherichia coli, Proteus mirabilis, and Streptococcus faecalis, to treat gonorrhea.
Epicocillin is used as an alternative to chloramphenicol in cases of Haemophilus meningitis. Due to its ability to spread in high concentrations in bile, it has been used to treat bile duct and intestinal infections caused by Escherichia coli, Salmonella, and Shigella.
