Fucidin cream is an effective topical cream for treating bacterial skin infections. It is widely used in cases that require antibacterial treatment without the need for oral antibiotics. The cream contains fusidic acid, a powerful antibiotic that works to stop the growth of the bacteria causing the infection by inhibiting protein synthesis within the bacterial cell.
Fucidin cream is used to treat a variety of skin conditions such as impetigo, boils, allergic dermatitis accompanied by bacterial infection, inflammation of hair follicles, infected wounds and scratches, and sometimes in cases of inflammatory acne when there is a superficial infection. It is usually applied to the skin two to three times daily and may be covered with a bandage according to the doctor's instructions.
