Glucophage tablets are used to treat type 2 diabetes; it helps control blood sugar levels and thus Glucophage helps prevent serious complications of the condition. It is also used to treat a menstrual disorder known as polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS) in women.
Glucophage tablets belong to a class of medications called biguanides and they work by reducing glucose production in the liver, delaying the absorption of sugar (glucose) from the intestines, and increasing the body's sensitivity to insulin.
