Medicine Description
Afrin is used as a drop or spray to relieve nasal congestion and blockage. It works by constricting the blood vessels in the nasal mucosa, which reduces swelling and congestion and helps facilitate breathing. It is used in cases of colds, influenza, allergies, and sinusitis. It also relieves the symptoms of allergic or non-allergic rhinitis. It is recommended to use it for short periods only, usually not exceeding several days, to avoid side effects such as nasal dryness or increased congestion upon discontinuation.
Afrin should not be used excessively or for long periods without consulting a doctor to avoid dependence on it or the occurrence of other complications.
