Akne-mycin ointment is used to treat acne, especially mild to moderate cases. It contains erythromycin, an antibiotic that works to reduce the bacteria that cause skin infections and pimples. This ointment also helps reduce redness and swelling associated with acne. It also works to reduce sebum secretions that clog pores and cause blackheads and whiteheads. The ointment is applied directly to the affected areas once or twice daily, according to the doctor's instructions. Avoid contact with the eyes or mouth.
