Fenistil gel works by inhibiting the effects of histamine, which is released when allergic reactions occur in the body, thus relieving the symptoms of itching, redness, and swelling. It is applied directly to the affected skin with gentle massage until it is absorbed. It is usually used several times daily as needed or as directed by a doctor.
