Tavanic is used to treat a variety of bacterial infections caused by certain types of susceptible bacteria. The drug is used in conditions such as upper and lower respiratory tract infections, including chronic bronchitis and community-acquired pneumonia. It is also used to treat urinary tract infections, such as cystitis and kidney infections.
Tavanic may be prescribed to treat skin and soft tissue infections or some bone and joint infections as well as in cases of exposure to anthrax as a type of prevention or treatment.
