Cefaxim treats respiratory tract infections such as pneumonia, urinary tract infections, reproductive tract infections, typhoid fever, gastrointestinal infections, skin infections, in addition to gynecological diseases such as pelvic inflammatory disease and inflammation of the tissues surrounding the pelvis, as well as endometritis, and also includes bone and joint infections, soft tissue infections, peritonitis, intra-abdominal infections, central nervous system infections such as meningitis, ventriculitis, brain abscess, septicemia, and endocarditis.
Cefaxim can be used to treat and prevent infection before undergoing surgery.
