About Carvedilol Beta Blocker With Alpha- Adrenergic Blocking Activity, Antihypertensive and Anti angina. Mechanism of Action of Carvedilol Carvedilol is an adrenergic antagonist capable of blocking alpha-1, beta-1, and beta-2 receptors. It produces vasodilatation through alpha-1 blockade as well as direct action. It decreases peripheral resistance, heart rate and blood pressure. It prevents reflex tachycardia. It also exerts it`s pharmacological actions through additional actions like Ca2+ entry blockade , anti oxidant action, antiproliferative action, & membrane stabilizing action. It does not harm lipid profile.Carvedilol improves ventricular function and reduces morbidity and mortality in patients with congestive heart failure.
