Keplpsy is used as a standalone treatment to reduce partial seizures and convulsions in adults and adolescents, particularly in newly diagnosed cases of epilepsy.
These seizures originate in a specific area of the brain and may remain localized or later spread to both sides of the brain, causing symptoms to vary from person to person depending on the location of the neurological abnormality. It helps regulate electrical activity in the brain and reduce the frequency of seizures.
It is also used to treat partial seizures in adults and children, as well as myoclonic seizures that cause sudden muscle jerks, and juvenile myoclonic epilepsy in adolescents from the age of twelve.
Additionally, it helps control primary generalized tonic-clonic seizures in patients with idiopathic generalized epilepsy and improves neurological stability.
