About Levetiracetam It is S-enantiomer of etiracetam. Anticonvulsant medication used to treat epilepsy. Mechanism of Action of Levetiracetam The exact mechanism for levetiracetam is unknown. However, the drug binds to a synaptic vesicle protein, SV2A, which is believed to impede nerve conduction across synapses. Indications for Levetiracetam 1.Anticonvulsant. 2.Neuropathic pain. 3.Tourette syndrome, autism, and anxiety disorder. Side Effects of Levetiracetam 1. Hair loss 2. Anxiety 3. Depression 4. Headache 5. Nausea. Typical Dosage for Levetiracetam It is usually taken twice a day, once in the morning and once at night, with or without food.
