Medicine Description
Mannitol sulfate is used as a diuretic in cases of increased intracranial pressure resulting from brain injuries or hemorrhages. It is also useful in reducing intraocular pressure in certain diseases, such as glaucoma, by drawing excess fluid from the tissues into the bloodstream, reducing swelling and pressure and preventing serious complications related to the nervous or visual system.
It also supports kidney function in some patients, increasing urine output and stimulating kidney function in cases of acute, temporary kidney failure. It can also be used during certain medical or surgical procedures to maintain fluid balance and prevent fluid retention, making it an effective treatment in critical medical situations requiring rapid intervention.
