Zovirax Cream is specifically used to treat viral infections of the skin and lips, especially those caused by the herpes simplex virus. This cream is an effective treatment for relieving the symptoms of herpes labialis and is also sometimes used for mild external genital herpes. Zovirax Cream is used to reduce the duration of infection, the severity of symptoms, and the tingling, itching, or pain associated with herpes sores, especially when used in the early stages of infection, i.e., when the first tingling or redness is felt before the blisters appear.
Zovirax also helps speed up the drying of sores and reduces the risk of spreading the infection to others or to other areas of the body. The cream is also used for some other skin conditions caused by herpes viruses in immunocompromised patients, but under medical supervision.
