Betamethasone valerate is used to relieve symptoms associated with chronic or acute allergies, such as swelling, redness, and itching. It is sometimes given to treat autoimmune diseases such as lupus or rheumatoid arthritis, where it works to reduce overactivity of the immune system. It is used to treat a range of skin infections such as eczema, psoriasis, and severe rashes to reduce irritation and itching. Betamethasone valerate is sometimes used to replace deficient adrenal hormones or to treat certain thyroid disorders. It is prescribed in certain cases to treat eye infections such as iritis or inflammation of the anterior part of the eye.
