Actilyse is used to treat blood clots. This drug is a clot-dissolving drug and contains the active ingredient Alteplase, which works to dissolve blood clots in the vessels. The drug is used to treat acute stroke resulting from clots inside the brain vessels early after symptoms appear, dissolve clots that cause blockage in the pulmonary artery known as pulmonary embolism, and treat acute myocardial infarction to improve blood flow to the heart and reduce damage.
Actilyse is usually given in hospitals and under close medical supervision due to the sensitivity of the treatment and the need to use it at specific times after the injury to achieve maximum benefit and reduce risks.
