Medicine Description
Vetovancin Vial is a potent antibiotic belonging to the glycopeptide class. It contains the active ingredient
vancomycin, which works by inhibiting bacterial cell wall synthesis, making it highly effective against serious
Gram-positive bacterial infections, including strains resistant to many other antibiotics.
It is used to treat severe and complicated infections involving the lungs, bloodstream, bones, skin, and soft tissues.
Vetovancin is commonly reserved for serious hospital-acquired infections and should be administered under close
medical supervision in a hospital setting.

Uses of Vetovancin
Treatment of severe infections caused by methicillin-resistant Gram-positive bacteria, including MRSA.
Treatment of bacterial endocarditis.
Management of severe bacteremia and septicemia.
Treatment of bone and joint infections and complicated skin and soft tissue infections.
Treatment of complicated lower respiratory tract and hospital-acquired pulmonary infections.
Vetovancin Dosage
The usual adult dose is
500 mg every 6 hours
or
1 g every 12 hours
, administered by intravenous infusion. Each infusion should be given over
at least 60 minutes
to reduce the risk of infusion-related adverse reactions.
In children, the dose is calculated according to body weight, typically
10 mg/kg every 6 hours
. Dosage should be adjusted in patients with renal impairment based on kidney function and, when appropriate,
therapeutic drug monitoring under specialist supervision.
Side Effects of Vetovancin

Kidney toxicity or increased renal function test values.
Tinnitus or hearing impairment.
Pain or inflammation at the injection site.
Contraindications of Vetovancin
Do not use Vetovancin in patients with hypersensitivity to vancomycin or any of the product's ingredients.
Use with extreme caution in patients with renal impairment or pre-existing hearing disorders. Vancomycin must
not
be administered by rapid intravenous injection or by intramuscular injection because of the risk of severe adverse
reactions and tissue injury.

How to Use Vetovancin Correctly
Vetovancin should be prepared and administered
only by qualified healthcare professionals
in a hospital setting. The powder should be reconstituted and diluted in an appropriate intravenous solution before
being administered as a slow intravenous infusion over
at least 60 minutes
.
Blood pressure and pulse should be monitored during the infusion to detect any infusion-related reactions. Periodic
assessment of kidney function and, when indicated, measurement of vancomycin blood concentrations are recommended to
ensure therapeutic effectiveness while minimizing the risk of toxicity.
