Medicine Description
VANCOZIN Vial is a glycopeptide antibiotic used to treat serious bacterial infections caused by susceptible
Gram-positive bacteria, including infections caused by methicillin-resistant
Staphylococcus aureus
(MRSA).
It works by inhibiting bacterial cell wall synthesis, leading to bacterial death and preventing the spread of
infection.
When administered appropriately, VANCOZIN is highly effective in treating severe infections involving the bloodstream,
bones, lungs, and heart. Oral vancomycin is also used for specific gastrointestinal infections, particularly
Clostridioides difficile
-associated colitis.

Dose adjustments are required in patients with renal impairment to reduce the risk of drug accumulation and toxicity.
