Valprotec is an antiepileptic medication used to regulate abnormal electrical activity in the brain. It has been
carefully formulated to help control various types of seizures by increasing the levels of gamma-aminobutyric acid
(GABA), an inhibitory neurotransmitter that helps reduce excessive nerve activity.
By stabilizing abnormal electrical impulses in the brain, regular use of Valprotec helps prevent seizure recurrence
and maintain neurological stability. It may also be prescribed for the management of acute manic episodes associated
with bipolar disorder and for the prevention of migraine attacks in selected patients.

Uses of Valprotec
Control of generalized and partial epileptic seizures in adults and children.

Prevention of acute and chronic migraine attacks when prescribed by a physician.
Valprotec Dosage
The initial dose is determined according to the patient's age, body weight, and clinical condition. The total daily
dose is usually divided into two or three doses as directed by the treating physician.
For the oral syrup, use the graduated measuring device supplied with the bottle to ensure accurate dosing.

Drowsiness, sleepiness, or dizziness.
Nausea, vomiting, increased appetite, or weight gain.

Contraindications of Valprotec
Do not use this medication if you have a known hypersensitivity to sodium valproate or any of the other ingredients in
the formulation.
It is contraindicated in patients with active liver disease, a personal or family history of severe hepatic
dysfunction, urea cycle disorders, or mitochondrial disorders associated with an increased risk of liver toxicity.

Women of childbearing potential should use effective contraception throughout treatment and discuss pregnancy planning

Small amounts of sodium valproate may pass into breast milk. Breastfeeding should only be considered after
consultation with the treating physician and a careful assessment of the benefits and potential risks.
