UNINITAPROZAX is an antiparasitic medication containing nitazoxanide, which is used to treat certain intestinal parasitic infections that cause diarrhea.

The medication is commonly prescribed for both children and adults to manage specific parasitic infections associated with acute diarrhea, abdominal cramps, and other digestive symptoms.

Composition of UNINITAPROZAX

• Nitazoxanide

Available Strengths

• Oral suspension, 100 mg/5 mL , available in a 60 mL bottle.

• Film-coated tablets, 500 mg , available in a pack of 12 tablets.

Uses of UNINITAPROZAX

• Treatment of diarrhea caused by Giardia lamblia infection.

• Treatment of diarrhea caused by Cryptosporidium parvum infection.

• Management of certain intestinal protozoal infections as recommended by a healthcare professional.

• Used for susceptible gastrointestinal infections caused by organisms that respond to nitazoxanide.

Dosage

• Children 1–3 years: 5 mL (100 mg) twice daily for 3 consecutive days.

• Children 4–11 years: 10 mL (200 mg) twice daily for 3 consecutive days.

• Adults and adolescents 12 years and older: 500 mg twice daily, or as directed by a healthcare professional.

Side Effects

• Mild abdominal pain or cramps.

• Nausea, vomiting, or a temporary change in taste.

• Temporary yellow-green discoloration of the urine.

• Mild headache or dizziness.

Contraindications

• Do not use this medication in patients with known hypersensitivity to nitazoxanide or any of the other ingredients.

• Use with caution in patients with severe renal impairment or significant hepatic disease, and only under medical supervision.

• This medication is not recommended for infants younger than one year unless specifically prescribed by a healthcare professional.
