Medicine Description
Torseretic is a diuretic medication that contains torsemide as its active ingredient. It works by inhibiting the
reabsorption of sodium and water in the kidneys, helping the body eliminate excess fluid associated with heart
failure, kidney disease, or liver disorders.
The medication effectively reduces edema and fluid retention, restores fluid balance, and is also used in the
management of hypertension. By lowering blood pressure and reducing the workload on the heart and blood vessels, it
helps decrease the risk of serious cardiovascular complications such as heart attack and stroke.

Management of fluid retention and peripheral edema caused by chronic kidney disease or nephrotic syndrome.
Treatment of ascites and fluid accumulation associated with liver cirrhosis or hepatic dysfunction.
-
Management of essential hypertension, either alone or in combination with other antihypertensive medications.
Torseretic Dosage
The dosage depends on the patient's condition and response to therapy. For edema and fluid retention, treatment
usually begins with 5 mg or 10 mg once daily. The physician may gradually increase the dose to 20 mg or higher,
particularly in patients with heart failure or renal disease, depending on the clinical response.
For hypertension, the usual starting dose is 5 mg once daily, preferably taken in the morning unless otherwise
directed by the physician.
In critically ill patients or when the medication is administered intravenously, the dose and method of administration
should be determined by the treating physician and given under close medical supervision in a healthcare facility.
Torseretic Side Effects
Mild dizziness or lightheadedness.
Dry mouth, increased thirst, and frequent urination.
Electrolyte and mineral imbalances.
Headache, generalized weakness, fatigue, or temporary muscle cramps.
Mild gastrointestinal disturbances, including nausea, indigestion, or abdominal discomfort.
Contraindications of Torseretic
This medication is contraindicated in patients with known hypersensitivity to torsemide, any of the excipients, or
other sulfonamide-derived medications.
It should not be used in patients with anuria, acute renal failure accompanied by an inability to produce urine,
hepatic coma or pre-coma associated with liver cirrhosis, severe hypotension, untreated severe depletion of body
fluids or electrolytes, or digoxin toxicity.

Use During Pregnancy and Breastfeeding
This medication should be used with extreme caution during pregnancy and breastfeeding. It is generally not
recommended during pregnancy unless the treating physician determines that the expected benefits outweigh the
potential risks and treatment is considered medically necessary.
Because torsemide may affect maternal blood volume and fluid balance, careful medical monitoring is recommended
throughout treatment.
Women who are breastfeeding should consult their physician before using this medication, as the active ingredient may
pass into breast milk or there may be insufficient data regarding its safety in nursing infants. The physician will
determine whether breastfeeding should continue or whether an alternative treatment should be considered.
Storage Conditions
Store in a cool, dry place at a temperature not exceeding 30°C.
