    Medicine Description

Androxin tablets are an important medication used in the treatment of androgen-dependent prostate cancer. These tablets contain the active ingredient flutamide at a concentration of 250 mg. Flutamide belongs to a class of medications called nonsteroidal antiandrogens. This medication provides targeted hormonal therapy that helps control disease progression and improve patient outcomes.

What are the ingredients in Androxin?

Androxin tablets contain the following active ingredient:

    Flutamide: 250 mg.

In addition to this active ingredient, the tablets contain inactive ingredients.

    Androxin uses:

Androxin tablets are used in the treatment of:

Advanced prostate cancer: as a combination therapy with luteinizing hormone-releasing hormone (LHRH) agonists or after surgical orchiectomy.

Treatment of primary flares caused by LHRH agonists: LHRH agonists can cause an initial increase in testosterone levels, which may lead to a temporary worsening of prostate cancer symptoms.

The goal of treatment is to stop the growth of cancer cells in the prostate, relieve symptoms associated with the disease, and control its progression.

What is the dosage of Androxin?

Androxin tablets should be taken as directed by a specialist physician. The dosage and duration of treatment are determined precisely by the oncologist.

The usual adult dosage is one 250 mg tablet three times daily (i.e., 750 mg daily).

The medication can be taken with or without food.

Swallow the tablet whole with a glass of water.

When used with LHRH agonists, the tablets should be started at least 3 days before starting treatment with the LHRH agonist to prevent primary flares. This medication is a long-term treatment. You must adhere to the prescribed dosage and duration of treatment, and not stop taking the medication suddenly without consulting your doctor.

What are the side effects of Androxin?

Androxin tablets may cause some side effects, which are usually related to its hormonal effects:

    Hot flashes.

    Loss of libido or impotence.

Breast enlargement (gynecomastia) or breast pain.

Nausea, vomiting, or diarrhea (especially at the beginning of treatment).
