    Medicine Description

Timogel eye drops are a medication used to reduce high intraocular pressure, a major factor in the development of glaucoma. These drops contain the active ingredient timolol at a concentration of 0.1%. This medication is highly effective in lowering intraocular pressure and is widely used to maintain optic nerve health and prevent vision loss associated with glaucoma.

What are the ingredients in Timogel?

Timogel eye drops contain the following active ingredient:

    Timolol: 0.1%.

In addition to this active ingredient, the drops contain inactive ingredients to maintain sterility and stability.

    Indications for Use of Timogel

Timogel eye drops are primarily used to treat:

Chronic open-angle glaucoma: to reduce intraocular pressure within the normal range.

Ocular hypertension: to reduce the risk of developing glaucoma.

    Secondary glaucoma: in some cases.

The treatment aims to lower intraocular pressure to prevent or slow optic nerve damage and preserve the field of vision.

What are the dosages of Timogel?

Timogel eye drops should be used as directed by a specialist physician. The dosage and duration of treatment depend on the patient's response and the level of intraocular pressure.

The usual adult dosage is one drop in the affected eye once or twice daily.

Hands should be washed thoroughly before applying the drops.

After applying the drops, gently close the eye and apply pressure to the inner corner of the eye (tear duct) for one to two minutes to prevent systemic absorption of the medication and minimize side effects.

If the patient is using other eye drops, each drop should be administered at least five minutes apart.

The dropper tip should not be touched to any surface, including the eye, to avoid contamination.

What are the side effects of Timogel?

Timogel eye drops may cause some side effects, most of which are local and mild, while some may be systemic or more serious:

    Common side effects (local):

A stinging or burning sensation when applying the drops.

    Temporary blurred vision.

Dry, itchy, or mild red eyes.
