What is the treatment for the lower back and neck that does not cause addiction?
Client Question: male - Age: 27

I struggled with addiction for four years, but thankfully I'm now recovered. I have lower back and neck pain, and I've been taking Duloxetine 30mg, Gabapentin 300mg, and Relaxon for a while now. However, my sleep is often disrupted, and sometimes while at my desk or working, I feel tired and exhausted, with an unnatural urge to sleep and an excessive, unpleasant lethargy. I contacted a personal friend who is a psychiatrist, and he prescribed medications like Captagon and Modafinil. However, after extensive research, I discovered that these medications could potentially lead me back to addiction. Could someone please help me?

Doctor Answer:

Hello.

Lower back and neck pain can be a symptom of many health problems. A direct examination by a doctor will determine the cause of your pain and the appropriate treatment. However, you must inform your doctor about any previous addiction so they can prescribe medications and dosages suitable for your condition that won't cause you to relapse. Don't worry, your doctor knows the appropriate dosages.

However, you must adhere to the prescribed dosages and not increase them or use them for longer than the period specified by your doctor.

Wishing you a speedy recovery.
