Mechanism of Action of Nitazoxanide It excerts its action by blocking anaerobic energy metabolism. The drug interfering with the pyruvate-ferredoxin oxidoreductase enzyme depended electron transfer reaction which is an essential step in anaerobic glucose energy metabolism. Indications for Nitazoxanide 1.Helminthiasis 2.Giardiasis 3.Amoebiasis 4.Trichomoniasis 5.Fasciolasis 6.Cryptosporidiosis Interactions for Nitazoxanide Caution should be exercised while administering nitazoxanide with drugs which are highly plasma bound.
