Solu-Cortef is effectively treated using intramuscular or intravenous injections, which contain the active ingredient hydrocortisone. This active ingredient is the synthetic form similar to the hormone cortisol, which is naturally secreted by the adrenal gland. Hydrocortisone belongs to a group of medicines known as corticosteroids.
