Mechanism of Action of Pheniramine Maleate This alkyl amine derivative has peripheral H1 receptor antagonist action and compete with histamine for binding to the receptors present on bronchi, uterus etc. This inhibits the activation of receptors and corresponding allergic symptoms produced by it. Centrally the drug also has some antimuscarinic activity. Indications for Pheniramine Maleate 1. Eczema 2. Dermatitis 3. Urticaria 4. Skin oedema 5. Itching due to insect bites 6. Photo-dermatitis 7.
