Epidexone eye ointment is used to treat complicated inflammatory eye conditions caused by bacterial infections accompanied by severe inflammation. It contains a combination of an antibiotic and a corticosteroid. The former works to eliminate bacteria, while the latter reduces swelling, redness, and associated inflammatory symptoms. The ointment is used in conditions such as bacterial conjunctivitis accompanied by an acute inflammatory reaction or in cases of superficial keratitis.
Epidexone is also sometimes used after eye surgery to reduce the inflammatory response and speed healing. The ointment should be applied inside the lower eyelid carefully and under the supervision of a specialist doctor to adjust the dosage and duration of use and avoid potential side effects such as increased eye pressure or thinning of the cornea. It is not recommended to use it without a thorough examination to determine the exact cause of the inflammation.
