Dentocalm cream is a topical cream used to relieve pain and inflammation in the mouth. It is usually prescribed for gum and tooth problems. It contains active ingredients such as a local anesthetic such as lidocaine or benzocaine to relieve pain, and antiseptics to reduce inflammation and kill bacteria that cause ulcers or irritation. It is used to relieve gum pain resulting from inflammation, relieve teething pain in children, treat mouth ulcers such as aphthous ulcers, and relieve pain resulting from dentures or braces. Dentocalm is also sometimes used before minor dental procedures as a topical preparation to reduce pain, or after tooth extraction to relieve local discomfort. Dentocalm is applied topically to the affected area in the mouth using a small piece of cotton or clean fingertips.
