Sodium Thiosulphate is used to treat cyanide poisoning by converting cyanide into less toxic compounds that are easily eliminated by the kidneys. In some cases, it is used to reduce calcium deposits in patients with chronic kidney failure, especially those with vascular calcifications. It can be used as a topical antifungal to treat certain skin infections such as pityriasis versicolor. It acts as a deodorant for certain toxic chemicals in medical and industrial settings. It is also used to help reduce the effects of certain chemical burns such as hydrofluoric acid.
