Alertin is used to improve breathing in patients recovering from general anesthesia after surgery, to treat respiratory difficulties resulting from drug overdoses if the patient has taken an overdose of central nervous system depressants, to improve breathing in cases of neurological disorders or injuries to the central nervous system.
Alertin may be included in treatment plans for cases in which patients suffer from nervous system problems that affect breathing mechanisms. It is given to newborns when they face breathing problems immediately after birth, as it helps temporarily improve respiratory function until normal breathing stabilizes.
