    Medicine Description

Varoxaban is an anticoagulant that belongs to the direct factor Xa inhibitor class. It works by preventing the formation of harmful blood clots in the veins and arteries.

The medication is used to help prevent deep vein thrombosis (DVT) and pulmonary embolism following major orthopedic surgeries, such as hip or knee replacement procedures.

The medication also reduces the risk of stroke in patients with atrial fibrillation and helps maintain safe and effective blood thinning under close medical supervision. Patients should follow their physician's instructions carefully to minimize the risk of bleeding and other potential complications.
