Uses of UNITENSE

• Treatment of essential hypertension.

• Adjunctive treatment of congestive heart failure in combination with other appropriate medications.

• Helps slow the progression of kidney disease in patients with diabetes when clinically indicated.

Dosage

• The usual starting dose for adults is 10 mg once daily by mouth.

• Depending on the patient's response, the maintenance dose is generally 20–40 mg daily, administered either as a single dose or in two divided doses.

• A lower starting dose of 5 mg once daily may be recommended for elderly patients or those with renal impairment, according to the physician's assessment.

Side Effects

• Persistent dry cough.

• Dizziness or lightheadedness.

• Mild headache, fatigue, or weakness.

• Mild gastrointestinal disturbances.

Contraindications

• Do not use this medication in patients with known hypersensitivity to benazepril or any other ACE inhibitor.
