    Medicine Description

Tussiglobe Syrup is an effective cough medicine specially formulated to control cough and soothe respiratory tract irritation. It acts as a cough suppressant for dry, non-productive coughs due to the presence of the active ingredient benproperine.

The medicine helps relax the airways and reduces the repeated urge to cough, especially the persistent cough that often disturbs sleep at night. It also helps people suffering from severe coughing episodes or continuous throat irritation regain restful sleep and overall comfort.

    Composition of Tussiglobe

    • Benproperine

    Available Strength

    • Oral syrup, 0.3%, available in a 120 mL bottle.

    Uses of Tussiglobe Syrup

    • Relieves dry, persistent cough that is not accompanied by mucus or sputum.

    • Reduces the severity of coughing attacks caused by irritation of the throat and respiratory tract.

    • Helps improve sleep quality in patients whose cough worsens during the night.

    • Provides symptomatic relief of cough associated with respiratory infections, the common cold, and acute influenza.

    Dosage of Tussiglobe

    • Adults: One tablespoon (15 mL) three to four times daily, or as directed by the treating physician.

    • Children: The dose should be determined according to age, body weight, and medical condition. It is generally lower than the adult dose and should only be given as prescribed by a physician.

    Side Effects of Tussiglobe

    • Mild drowsiness or temporary sleepiness after taking the medicine.

    • Mild gastrointestinal disturbances such as nausea or transient indigestion, especially at the beginning of treatment.

    • Mild dryness of the mouth or throat, which usually improves with adequate fluid intake.

    Contraindications

    • Do not use this medicine in patients with known hypersensitivity to benproperine or any of the other ingredients.

    • It is contraindicated in patients with productive cough accompanied by thick sputum, as suppressing the cough may lead to mucus retention in the lungs.

    • Patients with severe liver or kidney impairment should use this medicine only under medical supervision.

    Alternatives to Tussiglobe

    • Tuskan

    • Codilar

    • Bronchophane

    • Notussil

    Pregnancy and Breastfeeding

    • The use of this medicine during pregnancy, especially during the first trimester, is not recommended unless the expected benefit outweighs the potential risk to the fetus and it is prescribed under close medical supervision.

    • Breastfeeding women should consult their physician before using this medicine, as there is insufficient information regarding the excretion of benproperine into breast milk or its effects on the nursing infant. The physician will determine whether treatment is appropriate or whether a safer alternative should be used.

    Storage Conditions

    • Store in a dry place at a temperature not exceeding 30°C.

    • Keep the bottle tightly closed after each use to protect it from moisture and contamination.

    • Keep out of the sight and reach of children.
