    Medicine Description

Crystasol tablets are a medication used to lower blood uric acid levels, which are the primary cause of gout. These tablets contain the active ingredient allopurinol 300 mg. By reducing uric acid production, this medication helps prevent the formation of urate crystals in the joints and tissues, which cause painful gout attacks. It also reduces the risk of kidney stones caused by uric acid, providing comprehensive control of these chronic conditions.

What are the ingredients in Crystasol?

Crystasol tablets contain the following active ingredient:

    Allopurinol: 300 mg.

In addition to this active ingredient, the tablets contain inactive ingredients.

    Indications for Use

Crystasol tablets are used to treat:

Gout: To prevent gout attacks and reduce their frequency and severity by lowering blood uric acid levels.

Kidney stones caused by uric acid: To help prevent their formation or reduce their size.

High blood uric acid resulting from chemotherapy for some types of cancer (tumor lysis syndrome): To prevent kidney complications resulting from the rapid breakdown of cancer cells.

Treatment aims to lower blood uric acid levels and prevent associated complications.

What are the dosages of Crystasol?

Crystasol tablets should be taken as directed by a specialist physician. The dosage and duration of treatment depend on the severity of the condition, blood uric acid levels, the patient's response, and kidney function.

Usual adult dosage for the treatment of chronic gout: The dose usually starts at low doses (such as 100 mg daily) and is gradually increased every week or two until the optimal dose is reached, which is often 300 mg daily.

In severe or persistent gout, the dose may reach 600-800 mg daily in divided doses.

It is preferable to take the medication after meals to reduce any potential gastrointestinal side effects. The tablet should be swallowed whole with a sufficient amount of water to increase urine production and prevent the formation of urate stones.

It is very important not to stop taking the medication during an acute gout attack; rather, it should be continued along with the treatment prescribed for the acute attack.

Periodical blood tests should be performed to monitor uric acid levels and kidney function.
