Comparison of the difference between Donifoxate and Zyloric tablets for treatment of gout

20 April 2025

Both Donifoxate and Zyloric are used to lower blood uric acid levels and treat conditions such as gout and hyperuricemia. However, they belong to two different classes of medications and work by different mechanisms. Understanding these differences helps determine the most appropriate medication for each patient.

    Donifoxate Tablets Ingredients

Donifoxate tablets contain the active ingredient febuxostat. Febuxostat is a selective non-purine xanthine oxidase inhibitor. This enzyme blocks uric acid production, lowering its levels in the blood.

    Zyloric Tablets Ingredients

Zyloric tablets contain the active ingredient allopurinol. Allopurinol is also a xanthine oxidase inhibitor, but it works differently than febuxostat. It is a structural analogue of purines and reduces uric acid production by inhibiting the enzyme.
