Comparison of the difference between Diflucan and Sporanox capsules for fungal infections treatment

23 April 2025

Both Diflucan and Sporanox are used to treat a variety of fungal infections. They belong to the azole antifungal class and work by similar mechanisms, but differ in their spectrum of pharmacological activity and other pharmacological properties that influence their use.

    Ingredients of Diflucan Capsules

Diflucan Capsules contain the active ingredient fluconazole. Fluconazole is a triazole antifungal that inhibits the fungal cytochrome P450-dependent 14-alpha demethylase enzyme, which is essential for the conversion of lanosterol to ergosterol, a key component of fungal cell membranes. This inhibition disrupts the integrity of the fungal cell membrane, thereby killing the fungi or inhibiting their growth.

    Ingredients of Sporanox Capsules

Sporanox Capsules contain the active ingredient itraconazole. Itraconazole is also a triazole antifungal that works similarly to fluconazole by inhibiting the fungal cytochrome P450 enzyme. However, itraconazole has a broader spectrum of activity against various types of fungi than fluconazole.
