    Medicine Description

Colifuran tablets are an antibiotic used specifically to treat uncomplicated urinary tract infections. These tablets contain the active ingredient nitrofurantoin at a concentration of 100 mg. Nitrofurantoin belongs to a class of antibiotics that are effective against a wide range of bacteria that cause urinary tract infections. This medication works by interfering with vital bacterial metabolism, killing the bacteria or stopping their growth, thus reducing infection. Nitrofurantoin is highly concentrated in urine, making it very effective at the site of infection.

What are the ingredients in Colifuran tablets?

Colifuran tablets contain the following active ingredient:

    Nitrofurantoin: 100 mg.

The tablets also contain inactive ingredients.

    Indications for Use of Colifuran

Colifuran tablets are used to treat:

Uncomplicated urinary tract infections (UTIs): caused by bacteria sensitive to nitrofurantoin.

Prevention of recurrent urinary tract infections: In some cases, your doctor may prescribe a lower dose for prevention.

The goal of treatment is to eliminate the bacterial infection in the urinary tract and relieve associated symptoms, such as painful urination and frequent urination.

What is the dosage of Colifuran?

Colifuran tablets should be taken as directed by your doctor. The usual dose for treating urinary tract infections for adults is 100 mg twice daily (every 12 hours) for 5 to 7 days, or as your doctor deems appropriate.

The tablet should be swallowed whole with food or milk to help reduce gastrointestinal side effects and improve absorption. Drink plenty of fluids during treatment. It is very important to complete the full course of treatment, even if symptoms improve, to ensure complete elimination of the infection and prevent the development of antibiotic resistance.

What are the side effects of Colifuran?
