Ornidaz tablets are a powerful oral medication containing the active ingredient ornidazole at a concentration of 500 mg per tablet. Ornidazole belongs to a class of drugs called nitroimidazole derivatives, which are highly effective antiparasitic and antibacterial agents. Ornidazole works by damaging the DNA of target cells, leading to cell death and eliminating the infection. Due to this mechanism of action, Ornidazole tablets are an effective treatment option for a variety of infections caused by susceptible microorganisms.

Some important drug interactions with ornidazole include:
Alcohol: Consuming alcohol during ornidazole treatment and for at least 48 hours afterward can cause disulfiram-like reactions, such as nausea, vomiting, headache, flushing, and rapid heartbeat. Oral anticoagulants such as warfarin: Ornidazole may increase the anticoagulant effect of these drugs, increasing the risk of bleeding.
Phenytoin and Phenobarbital: Ornidazole may increase the blood levels of these drugs.
Lithium: Ornidazole may increase the blood levels of lithium and increase the risk of toxicity.
Cimetidine: May increase the blood levels of ornidazole by inhibiting its metabolism in the liver.
